Every year as the holidays approach, the team at Blue Crab Books sits down to think about what makes a truly meaningful gift. Not the biggest gift, not the flashiest — but the ones people reach for every day.
This year, we asked a simple guiding question:
“What kind of art would bring someone joy all year long?”
That single question sparked weeks of sketches, color tests, draft images, and long conversations about style, themes, and the magic of everyday objects. Out of that process grew something we’re genuinely proud of. We would like to introduce our 2026 Desktop Calendar Collection – five unique themes, each created for a different kind of dreamer.

Created with the idea that everyone should be able to find a piece of beauty or imagination that feels like it was made just for them.
Instead of building one calendar and hoping it appealed to everyone, we leaned into what we do best:
distinct visual worlds.
Each calendar became a doorway into a different mood, aesthetic, or universe — the kind of thing you’d display on your desk not just to check the date, but because it says something about who you are.

Botanical Vintage / Cottagecore Florals
Soft, nostalgic, and timeless — perfect for gardeners, teachers, and anyone who loves a bit of quiet beauty at their desk.
Mythical Creatures
A fantasy-lover’s dream. Griffins, dragons, krakens and phoenix and more — all in richly illustrated vintage-engraving style. Great for readers, gamers, artists, and anyone who grew up on stories.
Dark Gothic Year
A moody, elegant collection inspired by Victorian etching, candlelit libraries, and gothic architecture. Ideal for lovers of dark academia, gothic romance, and atmospheric art.

A calendar sits beside you as plans are made, habits are built, goals are reached, and new seasons begin. It’s a simple object that becomes part of someone’s life — and that matters to us.
How We Built Them
The studio walls were covered in sketches, color swatches, vintage map references, and pages from botanical field guides. Then we brewed far too much coffee while debating which mythical creature would best represent October. Should it be a Kraken, Banshee or Griffin?
We combined:
- AI model
- Specific, hand-crafted prompts for clarity and detail
- Vintage engraving styles
- Natural color palettes
- A consistent sizing workflow that ensures everything prints beautifully
Each collection went through multiple rounds of refinement. Some creatures were too Disney, some were too scary, some birds were too realistic and some just didn’t look right — and we adjusted every prompt until each month felt like part of a unified artistic world.
We kept asking each other: who would you gift a calendar to? The adventurer? The cottagecore gardener? The fantasy lover? The quiet reader who loves gothic architecture and literature? That’s how our five themes were born.

thoughtful, artistic, visually appealing and meant to last.
