This September, something new is beginning at Blue Crab Books, too.
The Blue Crab Classic Book Club is almost here.
Each month, we’ll choose one classic to read together—a book worth discovering for the first time or returning to after many years. Some months may take us into Gothic houses or faraway adventures. Others may introduce us to unforgettable women, enduring love stories, or mysteries where almost everyone seems to know more than they’re saying.
The idea is simple: great books, enjoyed without pressure. No assignments. No racing to finish. No feeling that there is a “right” way to read a classic.
Just a wonderful book and a little companionship along the way to enrich the experience.
Our First Book?
We’re beginning with a book that feels just right for September. Imagine a quiet English village where everyone knows everyone else’s business. There are tidy gardens, familiar neighbors, polite conversations—and an exceptionally observant woman who has spent a lifetime learning just how revealing ordinary human behavior can be. Everything seems perfectly respectable. Until it isn’t.
Our first selection comes from one of the most beloved names in classic mystery and introduces a character who would become one of literature’s most enduring amateur detectives.
But we’re going to keep the title a secret just a little longer.
