As a children’s book writer, I spent years crafting tales of mischievous elves and talking frogs. Then, one day while editing yet another manuscript, I doodled a quirky bird holding a flower—a tiny bloom, an even tinier frown. I couldn’t stop laughing.
That moment sparked a new adventure: greeting cards filled with personality, unexpected humor, and a touch of whimsy.
Not Your Average Greeting Card
Let’s be honest—most greeting cards are forgettable. Script font, pastel florals, the same old “Happy Birthday” message. I wanted to create something different—cards that make you do a double-take, laugh, or say, “I HAVE to send this to someone.”
Customers have told me they frame my cards, pin them to bulletin boards, or tuck them away because they’re too special to toss. That’s the magic I aim for.
Where the Magic Happens
My studio is a sunlit corner of my home in Maryland, overlooking a riot of wildflowers. A century-old oak dining table is my creative headquarters, where AI-generated gnomes and quirky birds coexist between stacks of high-quality paper.
Each design begins with an idea in my imagination and takes shape through AI-assisted illustration and digital artistry. The final prints are made on luxurious, thick recycled paper, with genuine Canon ink on Red River paper—a combination that makes colors pop off the page.
How AI Helps Bring My Characters to Life
I’ll admit it: I can’t draw. My artistic skills peaked in elementary school with stick figures. But AI isn’t a replacement for creativity—it’s my collaborator.
I describe the characters in my head (“A frog dressed like a 1940s detective”), and together, we refine them. Sometimes AI gets it right instantly. Other times, it gives my frog three arms and an existential crisis—but that’s part of the fun.
The real magic happens when I step in: adjusting details, adding textures, and ensuring every illustration feels like it stepped straight out of a storybook. These aren’t AI-generated cards—they’re my characters, brought to life with a little technological help.
