Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about self-publishing with Blue Crab Books

Question:  Can the same editor from my last project edit this new one?

Question:  Can I speak or communicate directly with my editor?

Answer:  No. Blue Crab Book’s service is an online approach to editing manuscripts. This enables us to charge the lowest rates due to our streamlined, editing environment. Our efficient operation matches your manuscript with an editor for your manuscript. The editors are professional. Once our editors have your manuscript, they spend quality hours on your book, providing corrections, fixes and suggestions. After finishing with your manuscript and providing notes and comments, the editor moves onto their next book. Our editors are not compensated for any additional consultations. If you require that kind of relationship with an editor, Blue Crab Books editing may not be a good choice for you.

Question:  Do I get my work done before I pay?

Answer:  No. Once you contact us and we provide you with a quote. The amount quoted must be paid before we can begin working for you. Our team will devote their time and skills to provide you with a professional service.

Question:  Can I give you an image to use for my book cover?

Answer:  No, unfortunately we do not work with author images, as we found they can become distorted and are difficult to work with. What we do use are images from the major sites, such as Shutterstock, Pixabay, Unsplash, Flickr and Free Images.

Book Formatting

Question:  How do I format my manuscript in Word to get it ready for publishing?

Answer:  The format depends on whether you want to publish it as a print book or an eBook. It will also depend on where you want to publish your book and the size of the book if it is print. For example, Amazon has certain requirements that may be different from other publishers. If you are publishing on Amazon, make sure you are using the correct size and template for your book. You can always publish it on Amazon as a print book and then publish it after as an eBook. This may enable you to get more readers since your book will be available on both platforms.

Question:  What if I can’t find an answer to me question?
